We arrived in Chandler Oklahoma on Friday October 2nd. We met up with our friends from Alberta and BC and met many other Canadians representing 5 provinces in total. The weather turned and became quite rainy and cold for most of the trip so I was grateful that we had a trailer for sure! We’ve done the tent thing for years and felt quite cozy in a nice and warm dry bed. This is our 2nd time celebrating the Feast of Sukkot in Oklahoma and our 8th year celebrating it as a family.
To help you to understand what we are doing, the Feast of Sukkot (Tabernacles) is one of the 3 fall feasts. It’s when the children of Israel left Egypt and dwelt in Sukka’s. It has also been referred to as the Wedding Feast. In the Torah, first 5 books of the bible, the 10 commandments were given to Moshe (Moses) to deliver to the people after they left Egypt and before they were granted access to the Promise Land. They had to rid themselves of their slavery mentality. There were also many other commandments that came on the heels of the first 10. 613 in total to be precise. When Yeshua (Jesus) was asked which were the greatest ones, he replied, “You shall love YHVH (the Lord) your Eloheim with all your heart, mind, soul. This is the first and great commandment and the second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself.” We often forget what he continued to say after that, “On these two commandments hang ALL the Torah (law) and the prophets.” Mat: 22:36-40.
Christians often refer to the *new* command as to love one another and that is what Yeshua requires of us today (John 13:34) This is not a *new*commandment. Yeshua was quoting from the WORD (Torah) as he always did the commandment Lev 19:18. Yeshua didn’t have a copy of the New Testament or even Shaul’s (Paul’s) writings to refer to. He said several time throughout the gospel that, “IF YOU LOVE ME, YOU WILL OBEY MY COMMANDS.”
Think about it. John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with YHVH and the Word WAS YHVH.” First of all, who is John saying the Word is here? Most would say Yeshua (Jesus). Yeshua says that He and the Father are ONE. If this is true, and if he was before all time, who was on the mountain with Moshe (Moses)? Who gave Moshe the commandments? It was Yeshua! He didn’t come to give a set of life giving commandments to later die - as if he made a mistake. Dispensationalists would say that he did. That is an oxymoron if I ever saw one…or we have believed a LIE.
We read in Lev 23:33-44 that on the 15th day of the 7th month (fall season on the Hebrew calendar) we are to celebrate all the feasts and that these* feasts* were to be observed throughout your generations as a statute FOREVER. In Zechariah 14:16, which refers to the millennial reign, that the feast of Sukkot will be celebrated in the future. “And it shall come to pass that everyone WHO IS LEFT of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up form year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.”
Shaul (Paul) explains that they are a *shadow* of things to come in Colossians 2:16-17. “Therefore let no one judge you in food or drink, or regarding a festival or new moon or Shabbats which are a (fore) shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. How often do we see this verse as a shadow from the past - and not the future which contradicts both what the Torah and the prophet Zechariah says.
Ever hear the term, The Bride of Christ? Hasn’t the church proclaimed that it is her and that she is the bride? Is the church aware that the Creator Himself set an appointed time for His Bride? The feast of Sukkot is depicted as a wedding feast, one where we *rehears* if you will, our coming King Yeshua. Do we know what that means or even the PROTOCAL of meeting a King? There is always protocol when in the presence of Royalty.
Wait a minute, isn’t this a Jewish thing? Well, the Torah says, that it is for all. Exodus 12:49 One Torah (law) shall be for the native-born and for the stranger who sojourns among you. Lev 24:22 You shall have the SAME Torah (law) for the stranger and for one from your own country; for I am YHVH your Eloheim. There was a mixed multitude that left Egypt and when we refer to JEWS, it only address on tribe – Judah and the Southern Kingdom. What about the Northern Kingdom along with the other tribes. Think about it. Let say you are an Egyptian and you just witnessed the plagues and noticed that the Hebrew's who lived in Goshen were not touched by them. It wouldn’t be hard to know who I would want to hang out with!
